<div>In our Daily Diary #226, we covered an attack suffered in March 2021 by Acer Inc, a Taiwanese multinational hardware and electronics corporation, and the world's 6th-largest PC vendor. The attack was claimed by Sodinokibi (aka REvil), demanding the largest
known ransom to that date: $50,000,000.

<div>Recently, Acer suffered another two breaches in the same week. The first time in India and the second in Taiwan, both by the same threat actor, named Desorden Group. The Desorden Group claimed the attack by posting in a forum, information about the stolen
data. They also contacted journalists to state that the attack was not done to obtain a ransom. "Acer is way behind in its cybersecurity effects on protecting its data and is a global network of vulnerable servers.", the group declared.</div>

Acer confirmed both attacks, declaring that the India breach was an isolated attack on their local after-sales service system and that they already started to notify potentially affected customers. Regarding the second attack, they said that the Taiwan breach
only involved employee data. They also reported the attack to law enforcement and affirmed that it had no impact on their operation.<br>
