<div>Announced by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), the REvil ransomware gang was shut down after U.S. authorities reported on the leader. Also known as Sodinokibi, REvil had 14 of its members arrested following police raids at 25 addresses in Russia.
FSB said that they were able to identify all members of the REvil gang, document and establish their involvement in illegal activities.

<div>Covered by many of our Daily Diaries, REvil was responsible for several attacks, such as the Kaseya attack in July 2021, the Colonial Pipeline, and the Food Giant JBS. After the Kaseya attack, REvil had its servers shut down, followed by a disruption orchestrated
by multiple law enforcement agencies.</div>

After these recent arrests, the FSB stated that the REvil organized criminal community ceased to exist and the information infrastructure used for criminal purposes was neutralized. The operation resulted in more than US$ 5,000,000 confiscated in the form of
rubles and cryptocurrency, US$ 600,000 and EUR 500,000 seized in cash, and 20 luxury cars.<br>
